Peptide Certificate of Analysis: How to Read One — and How to Verify It
A certificate of analysis is only worth what you can independently verify. This page explains what a genuine certificate contains, how to check one against the issuing laboratory’s own records, and how to request documentation for a specific Amideworks batch.
1. What a genuine certificate contains
- The issuing laboratory — named, with its accreditation scope if one is claimed.
- A report or accession number that resolves on the laboratory’s own system.
- Sample identity: compound, strength, and the lot the sample was drawn from.
- The methods used — HPLC-UV for purity, LC-MS for identity, and so on.
- Results with units, and the acceptance criteria they were measured against.
- The analysis date, and the analyst who released the report.
- The client the sample was submitted for.
2. How to verify a certificate in under a minute
- Find the report number printed on the document.
- Go to the issuing laboratory’s own verification portal — not the vendor’s website.
- Enter the number and confirm that the compound, lot, results and date match the PDF you were given.
- If the laboratory publishes no verification portal, treat the document as unverified. Ask which laboratory issued it, and how the number can be confirmed with them directly.
3. Five red flags
- The certificate is issued by the vendor itself.
- The laboratory is unnamed, or in-house testing is presented as third-party testing.
- The same PDF is reused across different lots or dates.
- The report number cannot be resolved anywhere outside the vendor’s own website.
- Purity is stated without the method used or the measured value behind it.
4. What we publish, and what we do not
We do not issue our own certificates of analysis, and we do not present in-house testing as third-party verification. If a batch has no certificate from an accredited laboratory, we will tell you that plainly rather than supply a document of our own making.
For any lot, message us on WhatsApp with the lot number printed on your vial and we will send the documentation we hold for that lot. Where a certificate exists, we will provide it together with the issuing laboratory’s report number so that you can check it yourself. As certificates from accredited laboratories are released for each batch, they are published here with those report numbers.
5. Request documentation for your batch
Send the lot number printed on your vial label, and we will send the documentation we hold for that lot — or tell you that none exists yet.
